The real estate agents will leave with best practices that brokerages, management companies, agents, homeowners- landlords, must put in place to get the job done properly, which is to provide access to housing for all regardless of the person’s source of income and protected class.

The real estate agents will be able to understand what a Lawful Source of income is and why we need to provide access to everyone without judgement. Real estate agents will be able to have educated and proper discussions with homeowners about housing opportunities without violating the protections afforded to any person in this protected class.

The open and healthy discussions regarding Section 8 Voucher and other governmental programs concentrated on how the real estate agents must interact with the person with this assistance and how to properly advocate for their client.

The focus is to make sure that any interaction with the consumer is positive to the best of our ability and we are aware of any cultural differences between us and accommodate those differences without any discriminatory actions. We must be aware of the fair housing laws and apply them to every aspect of our dealings with the buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, etc. How do I know I am culturally competent? How to interact with people from other cultures effectively with respect and dignity. Why should I try to understand the culture of others? Why it is important to make a sincere effort to understand the culture of others. **The entire class will be a discussion of how to identify and implement what we learn about ourselves in the course to better improve our interaction with the consumer and create a better experience for buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, etc. The history and legacy of segregation and its impact in the housing sector. The impact of the fair housing laws on our business and what we need to implement to be better agents with a clear understanding of the fair housing laws and the appreciation of other cultures in our business practice. ** We will be providing the Agency Disclosure Form, Property Conditions Disclosure Form, Housing Anti- Discrimination form, etc. in many different available languages for them to have a better understanding of how we will be working with or representing them.
