NAR's REALTORS® are Good Neighbors Program celebrates members who make an extraordinary commitment to giving back by volunteering in their communities. During the national week of REALTOR® Volunteering (September 28 – October 3), Long Island Board of REALTORS® encourages our members to partake in Trash Treks to help clean up your local community!
How it Works:
Select a neighborhood, park, street, beach, etc. in need of some trash pickup!
Grab a bag(s). We suggest a reusable bag, but whatever you have to collect trash works for us!
Begin your trek collecting trash.
Take selfies along the way and post your trek. (Don’t forget the #LIBORtrashtrek so we can share your photos, or email your photos to pr@lirealtor.com!)
Deposit bag(s) in an assigned trash and/or recycling repository.
Log your time at nar.realtor/rgn (include hours volunteered and how many bags of trash collected throughout the week.) REALTORS® who track/submit their time are entered into monthly $1,000 drawings for charity.
Together, we can make a real difference as we serve our neighbors and strengthen our communities!
For questions, please email: pr@lirealtor.com.
Considerations:
We encourage our members to partake in this activity as a safe, individual sport if physically able. Those partaking are advised to follow the current CDC guidelines for outdoor activities (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/outdoor-activities.html), which include considering wearing a mask if you anticipate being near any crowded outdoor settings or in close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.
