The Global Business Council of Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) proudly received the Platinum Global Achievement Program Award from National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) at the recent REALTORS® Conference and Expo in Anaheim, California. This prestigious award recognizes LIBOR’s exceptional accomplishments and commitment to setting a new standard for global business opportunities within the real estate sector.
The Global Achievement Program is designed to recognize and reward the most active associations in global business. Among the over 130 global business councils nationwide, each of these organizations has demonstrated the utmost commitment to helping members capture their share of the global real estate market in the United States, in addition to connecting their council and members to the global community in their local area.
Participating councils are categorized into four status classifications based on their activity level: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Evaluation encompasses five key areas: Business Plan, Marketing and Communication, Events/Education, Outreach, and Benchmarking. LIBOR's Global Business Council not only excels in these categories but also provides members with unparalleled service, offering the tools, education, and networking opportunities necessary for success in international real estate.
LIBOR hosted its 3rd Annual Global Success Month in March, a month-long campaign dedicated to promoting global business opportunities and providing valuable information to its members. The month featured the 5th Annual Global Breakfast, showcased five global real estate experts on LIBOR's free weekly Wednesday Webinar series, and disseminated information, statistics, and data through various social media channels and newsletters.
In June, LIBOR returned to Spain for the fourth time to attend SIRA’s annual conference, Inmocionate. LIBOR has been NAR’s appointed Ambassador Association to SIRA since 2018 and has made efforts to attend its conference ever since. LIBOR President Gina Marie Bettenhauser and LIBOR Global Business Liaison Evan Smith had the distinct opportunity to present the Long Island housing market during an international panel session.
During the trade mission, LIBOR signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Portuguese International Realty (PIR), represented by UCI (União de Créditos Imobiliários) and APEMIP (Associação Profissional Representativa dos Mediadores Imobiliários de Portugal). Most recently, LIBOR signed its 33rd MOU with Vietnam, signifying an exciting expansion of its REALTOR® family.
Through these partnerships, members gain access to educational resources, market insights, real estate procedures, licensing information, foreign investment laws, and networking events that promote cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
In October, LIBOR, alongside nine other regional associations, hosted the 17th Annual Global Real Estate Summit at Fordham University Law School in New York City, attracting real estate professionals from 13 states and three countries. The two-day event featured sessions with industry leaders and top global practitioners discussing the latest trends and opportunities in the dynamic world of real estate.
LIBOR hosts a monthly virtual trade mission webinar through Zoom titled "Travel Abroad Virtually with LIBOR." These webinars delve into the international home buying process, foreign buyers' restrictions and/or incentives, cultural and economic highlights, property tours, and future market projections.
Additionally, LIBOR participated in the International Residential Transactions of Long Island Board of REALTORS® Members survey in 2023, collaborating with NAR to gather information about the size and characteristics of transactions with international clients. The results empower members to explore promising new revenue streams and are utilized by the media, government, and statistical groups.
"LIBOR is honored to receive the Platinum Global Achievement Award from NAR as a testament to our Global Business Council’s unwavering commitment to the global real estate market,” said Gina Marie Bettenhauser, LIBOR President. “We are dedicated to pioneering innovative ways to foster international connections and provide our members with the tools they need for success. This recognition reaffirms our position as leaders in the industry, and we are proud to continue shaping the future of global real estate."
This is the third consecutive Platinum Award for LIBOR. From 2017 to 2020 the Association held the Gold Achievement Award and the Silver Award in 2015 and 2016.
