Special Election Watch: House poised to Expel U.S. Rep. George Santos (R-N. Hempstead, Oyster Bay, NE Queens)

After being exposed as a serial liar, pleading “not guilty” to a 23-count federal indictment, and the subject of a scathing official report of the House Ethics Committee, a bipartisan supermajority appears ready to remove the scandal-plagued Republican and force a special election in late February 2024. Democrats appear ready to pick former U.S. Rep. Tom Suozzi, but former State Senator Anna Kaplan is one of several other Democratic candidates.
