"The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency approved tax breaks for a 104-unit mixed-use development in Hicksville that officials hope will be part of a revitalized downtown. The planned four-story, $58 million project, called Fieldstone at North Broadway, will include a 4,800-square-foot retail space and will set aside 10% of its units for affordable housing, Peter Curry, an attorney representing the developer, said at a Nov. 21 Nassau IDA board meeting," reported Newsday.
"The development, to be located between North Broadway, William Street and Newbridge Road across a set of properties that have multiple existing buildings, is 'enormously important' to the transformation of Hicksville, Curry told Newsday in an interview. 'All of a sudden you're seeing the Town [Osyter Bay] really realize upon its transit-oriented district that it established, and the successes of something like this then leads the next town or the next village to say, 'I should be thinking more positively about this,'' Curry said."
