NYC 2025: Mayoral Primary Polls Show Adams Weak, Early Cuomo Lead

Two new polls of likely Democratic Party primary voters have shed new light on the brewing contest for New York City Mayor in 2025 - including how much damage Mayor Eric Adams has taken on in just one term and that former 3-term New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is starting with an early lead.

Both polls, one from an independent 510(c)(4) and another from one of the campaigns, show similar numbers:

Cuomo is ahead of the pack with support from 33% of Democratic primary voters, but also with unfavorable views of him held by at least half of primary voters.

Most strikingly, Mayor Eric Adams is very weak in these numbers - 11% in one poll, 6% in the other, along with nearly 70% of voters holding an unfavorable view of him now. 

The rest of the field is crowded for second through fourth, with former City Comptroller Scott Stringer with 10-13%, a strong showing from western Queens State Senator Jessica Ramos with 10% and 7%, current City Comptroller Brad Lander with 8% and 6%, and State Assemblymember and Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani from Astoria at 6% and 7% in each of these polls.

Trailing further behind was both former State Assemblymember Michael Blake of the Bronx and State Senator Zellnor Myrie of central Brooklyn, with low single-digit support each.
