Nassau 2025: Dems Pick Nicks to Replace Bynoe in County Legislature

Feb 5, 2025

"Democrats have also made their pick for a candidate to run in the special election to replace Siela Bynoe in the Nassau County Legislature. That election, now scheduled for Feb. 25, will be the last to involve the now-legally-barred county legislative maps," reported Newsday. "Uniondale resident Olena Nicks will run for the seat vacated by Bynoe, who is now serving in the State Senate."

In addition to filling Bynoe's unexpired term for the rest of the year to represent Uniondale, Westbury, and New Cassel, Nicks plans to run to represent Uniondale, Hempstead, West Hempstead, and southern Franklin Square this November under the new map agreed to in the county's redistricting settlement.

Republicans have not yet revealed their pick to replace Bynoe in this heavily Democratic district.
