NYC 2025: Speaker Adrienne Adams "State of the City" Fuels Mayoral Buzz

With Mayor Eric Adams polling at just 11% with Democratic primary voters, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams (D-South Jamaica, Rochdale Village) filed for a new campaign account ahead of her 2025 "State of the City" address - fueling speculation she is about to declare for mayor with encouragement from State Attorney General Tish James (D) and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams (D).

"'Welcome to my finale,' Adams said, before launching into a recap of her legislative successes... Speaker Adams and the City Council created a complimentary housing plan, City for All, which leveraged Mayor Adams's political weakness to add investments in affordability and home ownership programs and strengthened tenant protections, among other objectives. Her plan helped secured $5 billion in funding for the housing package."  reported Brick Underground.
