NYC Mayor: New Polls, Same Cuomo Lead; Mamdani & Adrienne Adams Rise

Mar 26, 2025

Two different polls were released in the critical upcoming New York City Mayoral primary, as Democratic registrants will be able to rank their picks to be the next mayor in 2026-2029:

"In the first round, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo leads the pack with 39% of the vote, followed by State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani (D-Astoria) with 15%, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander with 8%, and incumbent Mayor Adams with 7%. New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams receives 5%, and the other five candidates tested receive less than 5% of the vote each," said Data For Progress.

"In the final round of ranked choice voting on this survey, Cuomo wins outright with 70% of the vote, while Mamdani receives 30%. Although Mamdani wins voters under age 45 by a +14-point margin and keeps the margin close among voters with a college degree (-4-point margin), Cuomo comfortably wins all other demographic groups across age, race/ethnicity, and gender, as well as voters without a college degree. Notably, the race is significantly closer in Brooklyn than it is in the other boroughs."

This backs up data shared by Cuomo's pollster: "Cuomo picked up three points from an earlier poll in February, before he announced his candidacy. Pollster Bradley Honan said 51% of women support him, despite the sexual harassment allegations," reported CBS News. "'He certainly is benefiting from Eric Adams' decline,' Honan said. 'He's taking a couple of points all across the board. It doesn't appear that it's isolated to any particular candidate.'"
