LIBOR Awards 2014 Realtor®-Salesperson of the Year to David Legaz

Nov 26, 2014

The Long Island Board of Realtors®, Inc. (LIBOR) is pleased to announce that Realtor® David Legaz of Keller Williams Realty Landmark in Flushing has been named the recipient of the esteemed Realtor®-Salesperson of the Year award.  The announcement was made at the association’s Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held on November 25, 2014 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Before embarking upon his successful Real Estate career, David attended Queensboro Nursing School, whose mission in helping others inspired his decision to enter the New York Police Department Academy in 1985. While working as a police officer, David obtained his Real Estate License in 1995 and assisted his wife and a fulltime Realtor® Nancy as they worked alongside at Diana Duarte Realty until 2000. They later joined RE/MAX Universal and stayed until 2007.

After a successful career as one of New York’s Finest, he retired as a Sergeant in 2002 after responding to the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy and losing his partner.

In 2007 the Keller Williams® Realty franchise selected David to assist in the opening of the first New York City Keller Williams ® Realty franchise, which is located in Bayside, NY.

Outside of Real Estate, David is also committed to his community by staying involved as a former President of the Dwarf Giraffe Athletic League, a youth league in Whitestone NY, and is currently active as a basketball coach and serves on their Executive Board of Directors as their Political Action and Grant Coordinator.

Additionally, David has been involved with Team in Training since 2011 and runs with members of the Real Estate Industry where donations are raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It is his passion to find a cure for the cancers that have afflicted thousands of the 9-11 First Responders which were most likely triggered by an unprecedented “synergistic mix” of toxins found at the World Trade Center site.   Moreover, David was awarded the Realtor® Spirit Award earlier this year for his work on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

David was named the Keller Williams Regional Cultural Ambassador and he recently received his CIPS designation, Certified International Property Specialist. He is a diverse Realtor® who is involved in many different international real estate markets. He serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Chinese American Real Estate Association and is a founding Director of the Asian Real Estate Association of America, New York East Chapter. And earlier this month the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals New York Queens Chapter presented him with the Excellence Award for his work.   David’s dedication to the real estate profession and his community is inspiring to say the least.
