REALTOR® Rao Ali Shaan Khan has been named 2023 REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year by Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR). The award was presented at the Association’s annual Installation and Awards Event held on January 4, 2024, at Garden City Hotel in Garden City, NY.
LIBOR’s REALTOR® Salesperson of the Year award is presented annually to a REALTOR® who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the advancement of the real estate industry. The recipient epitomizes what it means to be a REALTOR® through service to their profession, peers, and the REALTOR® Association.
Khan has assisted New Yorkers with their real estate needs since 2016 as a Real Estate Associate Broker at Charles Rutenberg Realty, Inc. in Plainview, NY.
Believing in the significance of continuous professional growth, Khan has acquired numerous esteemed designations and certifications in the real estate industry, including ABR, SRS, PSA, AHWD, RENE, SFR, GRI, CIRE, and e-PRO.
Since 2020 Khan has served as a director of LIBOR and recently served as Chair of both, the Bylaws and Strategic Planning Committees, where he advocated for positive changes within the Association.
In 2020, Khan was appointed the Chair of LIBOR’s first-ever Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In this position, he was responsible for establishing the foundation for the committee's operations, which aims to create a more welcoming and inclusive culture in the real estate community and throughout LIBOR through outreach, education, advocacy, and collaboration.
Khan's involvement spans state and national levels, where he serves as a director of New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) and has served as director of National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). He also shares his expertise as a Licensed Real Estate Instructor at LIBOR.
Recognized as a Top Performer at Charles Rutenberg Realty multiple times, Khan achieved Top Performer Gold status in 2022. His contributions were further honored by Long Island Business News with the Diversity in Business Award in 2021.
Before his real estate career, Khan served as Director of Community Affairs and Constituent Services under Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer. His initiatives improved community boards' representation and education. Notably, Khan authored 'Led Astray,' an investigative report spotlighting issues within New York City's Animal Shelter system.
Khan is a graduate of New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Marketing as well as a Minor in Psychology.
