The Global Business Council of Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) has proudly been named a Platinum Global Achievement Program Award honoree by National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). This distinction highlights LIBOR's outstanding achievements and dedication to establishing a new standard for global business opportunities in the real estate sector.
The NAR Global Achievement Program is designed to recognize and reward the most active associations in global business. Among the over 130 global business councils nationwide, each of these organizations has demonstrated the utmost commitment to helping members capture their share of the global real estate market in the United States, in addition to connecting their council and members to the global community in their local area.
LIBOR’s Global Business Council has made significant strides in promoting global real estate by creating meaningful opportunities for members to engage in international markets. Over the past year, the council has launched several impactful initiatives, including the 4th Annual Global Success Month, an annual campaign that highlights the value of international real estate transactions. The campaign featured the Annual Global Breakfast, showcased global real estate experts on LIBOR's free weekly Wednesday Webinar series, and disseminated global insights, statistics, and data through various social media channels and newsletters.
The council also successfully organized international networking events, such as the inaugural Lunar New Year Celebration in Great Neck, hosted in collaboration with LIBOR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, attracting local officials and international business leaders. Additionally, LIBOR welcomed delegations from Youngju City in Korea and the Centre for NRB in Bangladesh, strengthening ties with international markets and allowing members to expand their global connections and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Education remains a cornerstone of LIBOR’s global initiatives. The "Going Global" international webinar series, a popular platform for members to gain insights into foreign markets, focused on the Netherlands, Canada, France, and Nigeria this year. These webinars provided in-depth information on market conditions, cultural norms, and the home-buying process, helping members enhance their understanding of international real estate. Additionally, LIBOR co-hosted Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) courses, equipping members with the credentials necessary to excel in global transactions.
LIBOR also participated in the International Residential Transactions of Long Island Board of REALTORS® Members survey in 2024, collaborating with NAR to gather information about the size and characteristics of transactions involving international clients. The results empower members to identify promising new revenue streams and contribute to broader industry insights.
In June, LIBOR returned to Spain for the fifth time to attend SIRA’s annual conference, Inmocionate. As NAR’s appointed Ambassador Association to SIRA since 2018, LIBOR has consistently participated in this important conference. LIBOR Global Vice Chair Person, Daniela Diaz, participated in a panel discussion about the importance and impact of international investment in local markets.
On November 5, 2024, LIBOR, alongside ten other regional associations, will host the 18th Annual Global Real Estate Summit at Fordham University Law School in New York City. The full-day event features sessions with industry leaders and top global practitioners discussing the latest trends and opportunities in the dynamic world of real estate.
“We are honored to receive the Platinum Global Achievement Award from NAR once again. This recognition is a testament to our ongoing efforts to expand international real estate opportunities for our members,” said LIBOR President Kevin Leatherman. “At LIBOR, we are dedicated to providing our REALTORS® with the resources and support they need to succeed in the global market. The future of real estate is increasingly global, and we are committed to helping our members navigate these opportunities with confidence.”
This marks LIBOR’s fourth consecutive Platinum Award, following Gold-level recognition from 2017 to 2020 and Silver Awards in 2015 and 2016. The award will be presented during NAR NXT, the Association’s annual conference and trade expo, in November 2024 in Boston, Massachusetts.
