Helena Veloso, Associate Real Estate Broker of Douglas Elliman in Franklin Square, NY, received the Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) 2021 Broker of the Year Award at the Association’s annual Installation and Awards Ceremony held virtually on December 2, 2021.

LIBOR established the Broker of the Year Award to honor REALTOR® Brokers who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and who serve as leaders in their local communities. It is considered one of the highest honors a LIBOR member can receive.

Veloso has been working in the real estate industry for over thirty-five years, and has been a member of LIBOR since 1988. As a senior manager, Veloso oversees a highly productive region on Long Island, and has led Douglas Elliman’s Franklin Square office to the number one position in 2020, the momentum has continued into 2021.

Veloso brings a unique understanding of the markets ever changing trends to her position. Throughout the years she has developed a well-respected reputation in the real estate community for her persistence, professionalism, and ability to generate results. Her unrivaled understanding of the business stems from her previous success as a former top-producing broker who first entered the industry in 1984. She is a vibrant, hands-on manager who is always striving to employ new and creative methods to stimulate agents and expand their business potential.

Veloso’s association involvement includes serving as 2016 President of LIBOR’s Central Nassau Chapter, and as a Chapter Director for 17 years. Veloso also served on LIBOR’s Board of Directors and as a member of its Education, Grievance and Professional Standards committees.

One of the key components which sets Veloso apart from her constituents, is her emphasis on continuing education in her management style. It is a top priority for her, to continuously provide her agents with weekly meetings, extensive one on one in office training and classes on the most up to date technological advances that agents can use to succeed in their business. She offers a series of coaching and assistant management programs, as well. Veloso is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, and believes in maintaining a well-diversified multilingual office to better service the whole community across cultures.

“Long Island Board of REALTORS® is proud to recognize Helena Veloso’s extensive industry experience and exceptional volunteer service with the 2021 REALTOR® Broker of the Year Award,” said LIBOR President Susan Helsinger. "Her boundless commitment to professionalism, education and mentoring continues to play a key role in moving our industry forward.”
